Empanadas are miniature pasties that have varied fillings, depending on where you are in Argentina. The gaucho's originally used the pastry as a means of storing their meat whilst out on horseback.

Over time the product evolved to have cooked meat inside and then other ingredients. However, of all my time in Argentina, there is one empanada that sticks in my memory and with the help of our team, we have managed to re-create it.

Empanadas are a natural food. Ours are hand made with ground beef, onion, olive, raisins and egg as a filling. They are simply delicious and plumply filled, try them out you'll see what I mean.

Cooking Instructions:
Just place them on a baking tray and paint the whole empanada with an egg wash ( 1 beaten egg) and pop in the oven (180 degrees from frozen) for 12-15 minutes. Don't baste in oil or butter as I did the first time, this makes the pastry go hard!
